A 19th Century Christmas Celebration At Allaire

Allaire Village to put on its annual Christmas event this weekend

Carolers wandering the streets. Saint Nick handing out candy canes. Hot mulled cider.

It's no Norman Rockwell painting. It's Christmas in the 1800s .

From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the historic village will be putting on its annual Christmas event, with Mummer plays, hearth cooking and horse-drawn wagon rides throught the woods.

Bring your holiday cards and have them stamped with the United States Postal Service's Allaire Christmas Cache Cancellation Stamp.

The annual Christmas event is tailored to show how a typical day might have been during the Christmas season in 1836, Allaire officials have said.
