The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office has scheduled a guns-for-cash firearm surrender sessions at three locations on Thursday.
Guns can be turned into cash by surrendering weapons at the Keansburg Police Department, 179 Carr Ave., the Asbury Park Police Department, 1 Municipal Plaza or the Freehold Township Police Department, in the municipal plaza on Schank Road.
Police will pay $25 for each rifle or shotgun; $50 for every handgun and $100 for each assault rifle. No questions asked, according to a release from the Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities ask that you transport your weapons in box, not carried open or concealed, the release says.
Ammunition, replicas, BB and Pellet guns also will be accepted, but no cash will be paid for those items, the release says.
The event is also sponsored by the Monmouth County Freeholders, the county Police Chiefs' Association and the county Sheriff's Office.
