GOP Sweeps District 30, Monmouth Freeholder & Surrogate Races

Singer, Kean, Rible handily defeat Dems for Senate, Assembly seats

Voters have returned sitting Republican incumbents to the Legislature while also favoring the GOP in races for Monmouth county freeholder and surrogate.

With almost all districts reporting as of 10:45 p.m., the GOP slate of Sen. Robert Singer, Sean Kean and Assemblyman Dave Rible have earned two-year legislative seats. Incumbents Singer and Rible are familiar faces to District 30 voters, while Kean earns an Assembly seat in the re-drawn district after serving as the senator for the 11th Legislative District.

Republicans Gary Rich and Lillian G. Burry have won three-year freeholder seats over Democrats Amy Mallet and William Shea as well as Independents Thomas Markowski and Patrick Noble.

Incumbent surrogate Rosemarie Peters handily defeated Democratic challenger Michael Steinhorn, 62,108 to 40,894 votes.

Unofficially, Singer, Kean and Rible have earned 12,991, 14,058 and 12,704 votes, respectively. Democratic challengers Steve Morlino, Howard Kleinhendler and Shawn O'Rourke have tallied 7,419, 6,451 and 7,112 votes, respectively.

Legislative District 30 includes the following municipalities: Avon-by-the-Sea; Belmar; Bradley Beach; Brielle; Farmingdale; Howell; Lake Como; Lakewood; Manasquan; Point Pleasant Borough; Sea Girt; Spring Lake; Spring Lake Heights; and Wall.

All results are unofficial until certified by the Board of Elections.
