Men from Barnegat, Wall Facing Multiple Drug Charges

Police say men threw marijuana out of the window of Lexus before traffic stop

Two men have been arrested in the wake of a probe into drug activity in the Pheasant Drive area of Bayville.

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Berkeley Township Police Department conducted the investigation on Aug. 22, Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said.

The officers attempted a motor vehicle stop near Scott Drive during the investigation. The occupants of the 1992 gray Lexus threw a "quantity of marijuana" out of the car windows, Capt. Jack Sramaty said.

When authorities eventually stopped the car on Scott Drive, they recovered some of the marijuana, a stun gun and a small amount of cash, Sramaty said.

David Walford, 22, Barnegat Boulevard, Barnegat, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana of less than one ounce with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, possession of a weapon while committing a controlled dangerous substance offense and tampering with evidence, he said.

Municipal Court Judge James Gluck set Walford's bail at $15,000, with no ten percent option.

Also arrested was Rasheed Edwards, 25, 5304 Route 34, Wall Township. Edwards was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense and tampering with physical evidence. Gluck set Edwards' bail at $5,000 with no ten percent option, Sramaty said.

Members of the Berkeley Township Police Department's patrol division also assisted.
