Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Hopefully we can talk about things other than snow

Once again, a note on the business listings

Good morning, Wall.

We’re gearing up for a big week here at Wall Patch. In addition to our normal schedule, we’re going to be introducing a slew of new features we hope you’ll like. There will be more on that as the week develops.

Meantime, I’m going to again mention the business listings, because this is important. I talked about it the other day, but I can’t stress enough how important it is to get in on this while the site is still new.

The business listings on this site are supposed to be Wall listings, at least primarily. But anyone who has looked knows they're anything but. It's a little frustrating.

Those who put together the site's business listings - free mini websites for local businesses - were frustrated by Wall's unique zip code fiasco.

For anyone who does not know, Wall Township uses 11 different zip codes, but the only truly Wall zip code belongs to the Allenwood section. Every other zip code is borrowed from another town - Belmar, Manasquan, Farmingdale, Howell, Brick, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Sea Girt, Neptune, Brielle.

So when well-meaning Patch teams swarmed around Wall last year intent on collecting information on your Wall Township business, some inadvertently threw out a good portion of those listings because the address read Belmar or Neptune or Sea Girt or whatever.

Others went the other direction and confused, say, Belmar businesses with Wall businesses.
That's the state of the Wall Patch listings today.

And although I am in charge of editorial content, not business listings, I feel it’s partly my responsibility to try to remedy this situation.

So, I'm asking any Wall business owner not represented in our listings to send your business name, address, phone number, website address and the name of a contact person and I'll do what I can to get it taken care of for you.

Email those to keith.brown@patch.com and you can always call me at (732) 556-8562.
