Hundreds parked along Woolley Road in any spot they could find for the seventh consecutive year Friday as the annual Christmas Light Show kicked off the its first shows.

Woolley Road was blocked to eastbound traffic by Wall Police. Only westbound traffic was allowed as the 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. showtimes neared.

Food and drinks -- ears of roasted corn, hot dogs, candy, hot chocolate -- were served up free. Donations, all going to the local charity that funds recreational sports events for children with disabilities, were gleefully accepted. Santa even showed up just before showtime.

And then, after some remarks from host Brian Brateris, 25, of Lake Como, the ambient light dimmed. And the Trans-Siberian Ochestra played over loudspeakers as 80,000 lights kicked in.

And this year, more fire.

The event is scheduled for three nights, up from two last year: Dec. 14, 15 and 23. Shows begin at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. each night. Organizers are looking for donations of ears of corn, hot dog buns, hot chocolate and cups.
