It's Your First Day Of School, Too

Ready or not, parents, it's time to get back in the swing

Welcome back, parents of school-age children.

Welcome back to life.

It’s been nice, right, the break from reality?

A summer full of lounging in bed well past quarter-to-sunrise, not planning what hot lunch your little one will eat and which ones you’ll have to pack; not worrying who is going to pick up whom and where this one has to be at 3 p.m. and that one at 4:30 p.m.

A season without planning everyone’s dinner while the coffee’s brewing before breakfast, and how in the world are we going to take care of that science project at this late date?

It’s pretty easy to get used to waking in the morning without feeling like you’ve just been shot out of a cannon, right?

As parents throughout Wall Township today shepherd their children through their new morning routines in preparation for the first day of school, it may feel to some like running to catch up with a train that’s left the station just a few minutes before your arrival.

You’re not alone.

We don’t have any words of wisdom, unfortunately -- no magic pixie dust that gives you an extra four hours a day and the energy to absorb them. Sorry.

But good luck, parents. We salute you.

As a resident of Wall for my entire life and West Hurley Pond Rd. for the past 7 years with 2 young children that attend Central and our neighbors who have 8 kids under 8 on each side of us. We constantly request that the people that race down our road from Rt. 34 slow down, its only 25mph and they act like they are on the track at Wall stadium despite our rudimentary signage that we post. In speaking with the Wall Twp. PD for many years about this issue, I have to admit that finally we are getting some results. Over this past weekend there have been MANY police cars in our area and they sem to have a ZERO TOLERANCE FOR SPPPPEEEEDDDING. We get walloped in Wall with the taxes, but when I look over the breakdown of how my $ is disbursed, I never gripe about the Police portion. These guys are worth every penny we pay and they really do respond when it matters the most. Thanks Chief Brice. Sgt. Ertle and all the road guys, keep up the good work.
