Curiosity to touch down on red planet Sunday

The land rover "Curiosity'' is expected to land on the planet Mars Sunday night.

Live updates on the rover's progress will come from the above streaming video, provided by NASA's jet propulsion laboratory.

To land on Mars, the rover will need to slow down from around 13,000 mph to a soft landing in the planet in just seven minutes, a feat that NASA has called "7 Minutes of Terror."

Curosity began its historic voyage to Mars with a November launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station aboard an Atlas V rocket.
