Manasquan's 125th Anniversary Celebration Set for Weekend
Parade, parties, football and more planned for momentous occasion
This weekend Manasquan will celebrate its 125th anniversary, and hundreds, if not thousands, of residents will take to Main Street on Saturday for the borough's celebration that will include a parade, social events, and even a football game.
Here's this weekend's schedule of events:
Friday, Sept. 21:
-- The festivities kick off Friday with a cocktail party at the Squan Beach Life Saving Station on First Avenue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Tickets are still on sale Central Jersey Bank, Squan Tavern and Bouqets to Remember.
Saturday, Sept. 22:
-- The official 125th Anniversary parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the downtown area of Main Street.
-- After the parade, revelers can head down to Manasquan High School at 1 p.m. to watch the Warriors football team square-off against Raritan High School.
-- Manasquan's Hook & Ladder Company No. 1 will host an anniversary celebration from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at their headquarters in Squan Plaza, organizers said.
Outback Steakhouse will be supplying the burgers and sides, and Chippy's Fries will also be there, organizers said.
The Manasquan Beach House will be hosting a beer garden simultaneously, organizers said.
Live music is to be provided by Rob Melendez and Project P.A.C.K.M.A.N., 25 youths who play classical music, top-40 hits and assorted acoustic jams, organizers said.
Manasquan residents and other locals are invited to partake in the festivities, organizers said.
Tickets cost $25 and include a t-shirt, meal ticket and "bottomless" mug, organizers said.
Sunday, Sept. 23:
-- The party continues Sunday with a clam bake at Mallard Park from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Live entertainment will be provided by the Retro Kings.
Unfortunately, tickets are no longer on sale and won't be available at the door, officials said.
