Many Back Online, Thousands Still Without Power

Utility company says everyone back online by Saturday; police have doubts

Good Morning, Wall Township.

It's 36 degrees and just more than 3,000 residents are still without power, in the cold, for the 12th day running. That's down from a high of 4,200 on Thursday.

The Glendola substation on Marconi Road has been put back online, officials said. Unfortunately, areas such as West Hurley Pond Road and Campbell Road went dark simultaneously.

Jersey Central Power & Light appears to have pushed back the date to have everyone in town back online from Friday to Saturday, according to their outage map.

On Thursday, the company had said in an Office of Emergency Management release that all residents in Wall would be online by midnight Friday.

Officials in that same release expressed doubt that the company's word was reliable.

"Not only are we not receiving updated, factual, and reliable information, but we also believe that our municipal representative is not getting the appropriate information from the company to pass on to us," the release says.

Friday is also the last day for the relief effort at the Circle Factory Outlet center, where Atlantic Avenue meets Route 35. Voluteers will be giving away ice and water until 7 p.m.

Mayor Jeffrey Foster on Thursday posted a blog in response to a comment on a Wall Patch story about the state of Wall Township.

No power for 11 days on Belmar Blvd near the GSP overpass. With the rates we pay, they should have hardened their infrastructure. Now it's our problem.

Why does our mayor have time to address petty politics but no time to give us answers aside from the baloney JCPL is feeding us?

I don't say our officials are withholding answers. But they haven't been effective in pushing for more accurate information.

In Sea Girt Estates: Linesmen came yesterday to access our street. They asked why no one reported the down lines on the street. WHAT?!?!? The down lines were reported for our neigjbors, who are 80+ years old, by at least 3 households on several occasions since 10/30/12. The linesmen said JCP&L did not inform them, which now causes delay in power to our street. When we contacted JCP&L to complain about this, the customer service rep said the linesmen were notified of the down lines. The rep said he could see all our calls reporting the lines. So now the blame game starts! We asked to speak with a supervisor and was assured one would return our call. Still waiting for that call as well as our power!!

We were fortunate to get turned on again in the beginning of the week/ then out of no where we were off for 15 more hours. No comparrison to Evans area I know, just weird how there is NO information when it happens. Only one side of our street it occured on, then both. Represenatives say all different assorted untruths. Hopefully today for Camp Evans area/so sorry! I cannot imagine how the KIDS are handling it. Also, can they really start school up again on Monday? Isn't Central school out of power too all of this time?

It's nice to be the only street in West Belmar without power? It's a grid thing, really?

Taft Street off Monmouth Blvd. still has no power. Day 12. You're not alone, Cathy. And I think it's a grid thing because I heard a RUMOR it was, and rumors are all I hear now.

So west of the parkway reststop entrance, they have power. East of quickcheck, they have power. This one section is the only one left with no power. Un-freaking-believable. JUST FINISH THE DAMN JOB ALREADY! How could we possibly be on a different grid, I just don't believe it.

Did our part of the grid blow something up? 15 seconds of joy at 3 o'clock in the morning made for a sleepless night after that. House to the right, power. Across the street, power. Behind us power. Answers, nada!

Power was restored yesterday around noon in the Voorhees section of northeast Wall. Just went out again @9am today. I suspect the temporary substation became overloaded and failed. This is not a good sign. We could be out a lot longer. JCP&L are a bunch of babbling idiots. You can't make this stuff up. 13 days now.

The word on the street is that when a new circuit was energized around 3AM, there were issues and had to be taken offline. The entire Marconi substation is currently offline for apps. 6 hours for final repairs, after which all circuits will be energized and all serviced by this substation will have power. My not include those with wires from ole to house down. Can't vouch 100% for this info, though it came from a reliable source

We got power back last Friday November 2. Walton way off Belmar blvd by schoolhouse rd. We had power until Wednesday night when it went out for 4 hours during the storm then came back on. Then it went out again on Thursday afternoon for no apparent reason. Our neighborhood is only 2 streets, and only 3/4 of one street lost the power again despite the fact that when it came on it all came on together. Can't figure out what happened. Not complaining as a lot of folks never got it back but it just does not make sense to me.
