Several area people were arrested and charged overnight with a variety of offenses, police said.
Timothy Owens, 20, of Neptune, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana following a traffic stop around 8:45 p.m. at Route 35 and 18th Avenue. Patrolman Micheal Hurden was the arresting officer, Sgt. Kenneth Brown said.
Joseph McCreanor, 22, of Wall, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and fireworks follwing a traffic stop around 9:50 p.m. at Hunters Lane and Tally Ho Dr. Patrolaman Frank Kuhl was the arresting officer, Brown said.
Ryan Chiera, 26, of Point Pleasant, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at Route 34 and Allaire Road around 10:20 p.m. Patrolman Eric Jennings was the arresting officer, Brown said.
Christopher Simon, 26, of Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana following a traffic stop at Route 35 and 18th Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Patrolman Micheal Hurden was the arresting officer, Brown said.
Patrick Whitley, 20, of Lake Como, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from another town. Patrolman Eric Jennings was the arresting officer.

People do not get addicted to marijuana. Years ago the drug zsar spent millions of dollars trying to prove they do, only to have the findings prove that they don't. I'm sure they wanted to bury the results but they had to publish them becuase of the amount of money spent.
Its pretty ridiculous that pot is still illegal. Have you ever heard of anyone getting into a bar brawl after smoking a joint? Didn't think so.
Belmar KT, its not the Wall cops' fault though. They still have to do their jobs.

Right, the cops have to do their jobs. If someone is driving around with pot, that's a risk they are taking.

Wondering if any of you have children, if so you would probably be a little more understanding of laws and why they are meant to be reinforced. You do realize that most people who deal pot are usually dealing other kinds of drugs. As a mom, I don't want a message being sent to my kids that some drugs are okay and some aren't. Pot is not the same as Advil or Tylenol. These pain relievers do not make your mind and thoughts seem outlandish, silly, or extra laid back with a baked, glassy eyed look. Yes, let's legalize pot and have employees coming to work like this, better yet let them teach our young. Let's face it, getting caught with pot gets you a slap on the wrist so stop whining and grow up. It's not the pot that's the big deal it's everything else that stems from it.
