Mom-Daughter Team Also Charged With Thefts at Point Boro Stop & Shop

Barth women are facing additional charges after arrests by Wall police

A Point Borough mother-daughter team allegedly snatched purses in their hometown right around the same time they were allegedly stealing them in Wall, Point Borough police said Friday morning.

Jennifer L. Barth, 45, and Lindsay A. Barth, 21, both of River Road, already facing Wall charges, are now also facing charges in Point Borough for allegedly stealing purses from two shoppers at Stop & Shop on Bridge Avenue, borough police Capt. Richard Larsen said.

Each of the River Road women were charged by borough police on Friday with two counts of theft in connection with grabbing a purse on June 28 and another on July 1 from shoppers at Stop & Shop, Larsen said.

The pair were arrested by Wall police on Wednesday after police said they received several anonymous calls identifying the suspects after their photos were publicized by the media.

Borough Police Lt. Adam Picca and other borough officers have been working with Wall police regarding thefts in both towns, which helped lead to Wall police filing charges, as well to the borough charges, Larsen said.

The two women have a history of Point Borough arrests during the past few years, Larsen said.

For example, in February 2011, Lindsay Barth was indicted for allegedly punching a Borough police officer in public, according to a copy of the indictment.

Authorities had been searching for the suspects since June 30, when a string of five purse snatchings occurred over a 10-day period in Wall. Police had recorded incidents of thefts from elderly shoppers at the A&P on Route 35 as well as the ShopRite on Route 34, both in Wall.

Regarding the Wall charges, Lindsay Barth was charged with four counts of theft of moveable property and one count of criminal attempt to commit theft. She is currently in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of $40,000 bail, no 10 percent option.

Jennifer Barth was charged by Wall police with five counts of conspiracy to commit theft. She also is in the correctional institution in default of $37,500 bail, no 10 percent option.
