Police ID Pedestrian Who Was Struck, Killed
44-year-old had last known address in Belmar
Brick Township police have identified the person who was struck and killed after being hit by a car while attempting to cross Brick Boulevard Dec. 23.
The pedestrian was positively identified Thursday as 44-year-old Andriy "Andrew" Pazderskyy, with a last known address in Belmar.
An ongoing investigation by the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit led to the identification of Pazderskyy, said Brick Police Sgt. David Bedrosian.
The department's investigation into the accident is ongoing, Bedrosian said.
At the time of the accident, police said the man now identified as Pazderskyy hopped over the concrete 'Jersey' barrier 30 feet south of the intersection of Brick Boulevard and Cedar Bridge Avenue.
He was struck by a Ford Escape SUV as he crossed. The SUV driver, identified as Charles J. Gardner, 42, of Brick, had a green light and was approaching the intersection, police said.

He did not jump over the wall. He was crossing at the light and got stuck in the middle of the road.

I walk the area of brick plaza Kennedy plaza and shop rite. There are sidewalks the entire area. The problem for me ( and I am in good physical shape) is crossing brick blvd and rt 70. There is not enough time allowed to cross the entire road and I sometimes get stuck on the median which can be very dangerous

Glenn I agree...people assuming, jumping to conclusions...shame is what it is...regardless what ethnicity the person is, the person is dead and the family has to deal with us.

What a shame for both the family of the victim and the driver of the car. My heart n prayers go out to the victims family. I hate all those roads over there 70 n Brick Blvd n their cross qstreets, makes me do damn nervous.

I don't know if my comment was published but in a nutshell.. so that I don't type all my complaint all over again: there should be a crossing bridge or more traffic lights... too many pedestrians in brick blvd. crossing the street b/c of restaurants and theater and I witness this accident when the police close the road and is not the first one that I witness in Brick Blvd. the both accidents I witness were fatal accidents of pedestrians. AND there are sidewalks but there should be divisions on sidewalks so that people don't cross the street.

In certain areas of Route 37 in Toms River, they have installed chain-link fencing on top of the barrier to physically prevent people from crossing in the first place.

more traffic lights? seems like there is one every 50 feet. unfortunately, accidents happen and maybe nothing should be done. Or maybe the guy should of been wearing a jet pack so he could fly over all the traffic

people should wait for traffic to stop for them to cross but they are lazy and they think the driver is seeing them but this guy had dark clothing I feel sorry for the guy that passed but I feel more sad for the driver b/c it could happen to anyone it's easier to see a deer or a squirrel than a guy crossing the street in dark clothing... the girl I saw a few months ago that also died in brick blvd was in dark clothing at midnight walking in the middle of the road not even crossing the street, and here I am doing a last min deposit at the atm and witnessed it :( people should not be allowed to cross the street where they're not supposed to cross only on crossing bridges and the traffic light. I think the problem is the actual sidewalks not being protected or covered somehow.

Cross at cross walks and when the light turns red ..safe,smart...and the legal way...sorry for the lost but the law is the law...cross at the light not where the walls are...illegal...

The signs that we see EVERYWHERE telling us to yield to pedestrians doesn't help. I remember when people used to wait to let a car pass or at least wait to see what the car was going to do. Not now. People just assume the car will stop and so they step right out in front of moving vehicles.

I agree. I think the 'Yield To Pedestrian' signs hurt more than help. Some pedestrians don't even realize they have to wait for green before they can cross the street where there's a traffic light.

Some pedestrians feel a "Yield to pedestrian" sign gives them the ability to just step into the street or a crosswalk. Not for nothing but it's much easier for them to wait to walk than for me to stop my 2000lb car in a second.

To walk a moment in someone else's shoes. To imagine what it would be like to not have a warm car to drive across town. To know what it is to do without a shower, toilet, heat, companionship, shelter. To know the fear of finding your next meal. To know what a selfless, kind, generous, man he was. Looking forward to spending the holiday with his family, but you know you have to cross the street. I KNOW HOW DIFFICULT it is to cross the intersections, how quickly the light changes NO MATTER HOW CAREFUL I was. I know because I tried it a few times. Tried WALKING IN HIS SHOES. It does not MATTER about your factless comments about a YIELD signs and people just WALKING IN FRONT OF CARS. He was not like that. He was cautious and aware of the dangers. What matters is that a wonderful man is not alive any longer right now. RIGHT NOW WE ALL SHOULD just be sending our well wishes to his family and friends that will forever miss him. TOMORROW send your ideas to your local officials for reform. Stop assuming what happened we were not there. We really don't know. Thank you, RIP Andrew

i would just like to know how fast thr driver was going to throw this man a 140 feet the posted limit in that area is 35 goes up to 40 at burger king
