Sewer Authority Having Problems

Office of Emergency management asking residents to limit flushing

The Southern Monmout Regional Sewerage Authority is having trouble as a result of Hurricane Sandy and local authorities are asking residents to limit flushing.

The sewerage authority, which treats the sewage from Wall, is having difficulty with a backup generator. The township Office of Emergency Management is asking residents to limit the frequency of flushing and to refrain from flushing paper products until the situation is fixed.

Rumors are flying on social media sites and other areas that Wall Township will be experiencing a loss of water service. That is not true, the office said in a release.

If water service was interrupted, residents would be contacted through the OEM and information would be posted on the Wall Towship Police website, the release says.

For updates, please refer to South Monmouth Regional Sewage Authority www.smrma.org and Wall Township Police Department www.wallpolice.org.

We continue to urge all Wall Township JCP&L customers who are without power to call toll-free number: 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).
