UPDATE 3:05 p.m.: West Belmar Shooting Isolated Incident, Police Say

Authorities investigating Curtis Avenue home

Police on Monday afternoon released additional information on a shooting that occured in the West Belmar seciton of town, calling the shooting an isolated incident that poses no threat to neighbors.

Pomphrey also said the investigation, a cooperative effort with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, is ongoing and no other information would be released at this time.

"The investigation is described as an ISOLATED domestic incident and poses no danger to the residential area,'' Lt. Walter Pomphrey said in a release.

First Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said earlier Monday that a man was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with a gunshot wound around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man, who authorities did not identify, remains in critical condition, Gramiccioni said.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, Gramiccioni said, and the Prosecutor's Office along with the Wall Township Police Department are investigating.

Investigators from the Prosecutor's Office at the scene Saturday were tight-lipped about what took place at 938 Curtis Ave. around 10 p.m. Saturday night when emergency communications reported a shooting. 

By 12:30 a.m., invesigators had a portion of Curtis Avenue blocked off around the home and yellow police tape around the front of the white, single-story home.

The road was re-opened around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
