Tell Us: What Would You Improve in Wall in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for the area, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Wall Township to make it an even better place to live?

Perhaps you would like to see specific improvements made to public spaces or the business corridors. Maybe your local wishes are more personal.

Regardless, what is on your Wall wish list?

THE Municipal system there, They are totally out of control. The Police are arrogant A-Holes, way too big for their badges. I wouldn't live there if you gave me a free house.

I would like the board of education find grants or funds in their budget to add security officers at district schools. I would also like the police department to hire more officers to keep Frank Ross out of town. Keep up the good work.

I wish their was more stuff to do with the kids, maybe upgrade the parks a little more! As for the police department if u don't like our cops stay out of our town! There is nothing wrong with our cops if I had to deal with the people that come into our town and do stupid crap then I might act like an A-Hole as well!!!!!

I would like to see the condition of our local roadways improved. A lot of them are in horrible shape.

I'd have them pick up the leaves that have been tilting here since October! I know there was storm clean up, but some of the smaller roads are almost completely covered in leaf piles! And some roads, like Ramshorn, are dangerous in some areas because you have to move to your left while driving. The town website says they are resuming leaf pick up in January and just working their way through zones. That will take until spring at their current rate.

I also think the roads could use some help, real paving, not just hole patching.

the leaf thing is a real pain. It will snow before they get around to picking them up and then they will be back all over everyones' lawns. I thought they were going to pick them up before the end of the year. Roads are dangerous because of having to switch lanes. NOW we have Christmas Trees added to the piles. When will it end? Wall should invest in a few college kids during the winter break to help clean up this town. It is disgusting the taxes we pay and the way the streets look.

Pick up trash AND recycling once a week. It is a joke to pick up trash twice a week (104 times a year) and recycling every two weeks (if your lucky, maybe two dozen times a year) and claim to be pro-recycling. Wall residents are obviously encouraged to NOT recycle, even though recycling should generate income for the township. I have 1/2 a can of trash each pickup and 4+ cans of recycling each pickup--lots more when we have five Tuesdays and thus have to wait THREE weeks between pickup. I cannot wait to move to a town that has their act together in this regard, because it is a MAJOR P.I.T.A.!!!

Would like to see the bicycle path from Manasquan to the area of the Allenwood General Store resurfaced. The path is very good from there on to allaire but this section has holes and cracks. Really needs to be resurfaced.

Lower our taxes. Period. Is there anywhere on the town website to get the allocation of funds? Other than the schools we all agree they deserve any funds needed.

Some of the secondary roads, such as Marconi road, are it terrible shape, there has to be a way to appropriate funds for repaving some of these roads, friends and families that visit my home, all comment on how bad is the road. Incidentally, what happened to the nearly $800,000 set aside for this type of work ?

I agree that the roads are the area that could use some extra attention. As I understand it, ways to address the West Belmar water tower are already being discussed. And as for our police, I will never forget the sight of one Wall Township police officer calming my wife, while another held my 1 year old son in his arms, as they responded to a call that he had trouble breathing. My job at the time was ten minutes away, and they were providing care and comfort for my family before I got there. The Wall Township Police Department is a perfectly functioning entity, and deserves all the praise in the world. Frank Ross should tap his brakes when he comes through our town, and he'll have no problem at all.

maybe people don't unerstand we just went thru a major storm. Thousands of tons of brush, the public works working 12 hours a day 6 days a week, an army of men from out of state, and contractors helping, and all you would change is picking up the leaves? That is sad. The Leaves would have been done long ago if Sandy didn't blow thru. may you should volunteer to help then it would get done faster. Mr. Ross I would like to see you as a police officer. They put their lives on the line every time they stop a car. Our police department is one of the best in New Jersey and we are very proud of them.... I agree with the roads. they do need major work. A place for our teens would be great like a movie theater. A better boat ramp for us to use, there is no water there at low tide and I have heard the Scouts say they can not even put their kayaks and conues in . A pet peav of mine is people who say " for the taxes we pay" . Look around the taxes are not that bad for the services we get. A lot of towns have higher rates and a lot less services. Stop complaining about the little things . Wall is a great place to live, raise kids, and have fun. Look for the real problems.

So what was the excuse for not picking up the leaves two years ago when we got that huge snow storm after Christmas and it caused a major problem with plowing and flooding? The leaves sat there untuil April! It's Jan 2, the leaves should be gone. The storm was in October, how long are you going to use that excuse? How aboput skip a few garbage days and do the leaves?

I think the town could surely improve on keeping our streets clear of leaves and debris... They should also look into upgrading the little shopping center on Belmar Blvd and New Bedford Road, at least get the owners to have it painted to a brighter color which is not so depressing as it is now. I'm sure the small businesses would most definitely benefit from it.

The roads are horrible ! Where else do you see the centers of the roads lower then the sides and manholes sticking 6 to 8 inches higher then the road.In the Coast Star a year or two ago the committee said there was never an increase in monies to fix the roads in 18 years ! Not even a dollar a year.
