The End of Another Weekend Means More People Heading Away From Jersey Shore
Traffic complaints at a minimum on Sunday afternoon
For those people who made their way to the Jersey Shore in the monsoon that was Friday's drenching rain storm, driving back on Sunday afternoon should be a considerably nicer experience.
As of 3:30 there were only a few complaints about traffic on the local and major roadways according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Up north there is a two mile delay on the Garden State Parkway on the southbound side near exit 109. That delay stretches as far down as exit 105. In that same area, there are reported delays on Route 36 North between Atlantic Avenue in Long Branch and Navesink Avenue in the Highlands.
There are also some delays on the Turnpike this afternoon. On the northbound side near exit 7 there is a 12 mile delay reaching exit 8. The 12 mile backup is causing delays of 20 to 25 minutes for motorists driving in that direction. Also on the Turnpike, there is a delay on the southbound side of the road near exit 8A. The delays reach all the way to the Molly Pitcher Service area.
If you see any other traffic issues you can leave them in the comments area. Be sure to check Patch next weekend for more traffic updates from around the Jersey Shore region.

Hate to tell you the bad news. The summer is not over and they will start coming on down again this thursday already with the attitude on and off the road.

Not a big fan of Bennies, especially living here, paying taxes here, owning a home here, and having to compete for parking spaces, beach space, etc. with people who don't even live here. No wonder most people (who have the money) go away and vacation on a secluded island!

I know it is so horrible that people come to the beach....Maybe one day they will stop coming and Point can turn into a place like Camden, Asbury or Neptune....SMARTEN UP!

Poppa, you are absolutely right... as much as I hate their attitudes, driving skills, etc, our taxes would double, the local businesses would sink and jobs would diminish. What I do wish for, is better quality of people visiting the shore....
