The Time Has Come to Once Again Clear Out Jersey Shore Traffic
No big problems reported on local roads as weekend winds down
With "Carmageddon" having past in California, the time has once again come for visitors of the Jersey Shore region to return to their original points of origin.
A recent addition to the traffic scene in the area is a two mile delay on the Garden State Parkway heading north near exit 98. The traffic volume has picked up in that area as of 4:20 on Sunday afternoon.
Also on the local roadways, there are delays reported on Route 36 north between Atlantic Ave. in Long Branch and Navesink Ave. in the Highlands. Heavy volume in the area is causing delays of anywhere from five to 15 minutes.
Heading out of the area, there are delays reported on the New Jersey Turnpike heading north near Exit 7A. The traffic backup is reported to be close to three miles according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
For those traveling back to New York City, there are reported delays of 20 to 25 minutes for those going through the Holland Tunnel. Delays are also being reported for those taking the Lincoln Tunnel as well as the George Washington Bridge.
