The Wall Township Schools will remain closed for the rest of the week, according to a message from schools Superintendent Daniel Simon.
The district schools will open Monday, Nov. 12, Simon said in a message on Twitter.
The decision comes a day after Simon said there was "significant progress'' toward opening the school system on Wednesday.

This article makes the superintendent sound like he's not doing everything he can to open schools. Mr. Simon is the best thing that has happened to this district in a while. I trust his decision. There is a Nor'easter moving in too. Of course we all want to get back to normalcy, but better safe than sorry!

As per WTEA, they are still collecting disaster relief items at their office at 1865 Rt 35. There is an IMMEDIATE NEED for cleaning supplies, scrub brushes, batteries, winter coats, and non-perishable foods.

Melissa, I totally agree with you. Mr. Simon is the best thing that happened to the Wall Township district in a very long time. The communication and decisions has been accurate, with caution and compassion in this disaster that hit the entire east coast. He practically made a daily communication regarding the return of school because I received the messages. He took one day at a time which was the right approach of the magnitude of this storm. He evaluated daily and realized the impact and is thinking about the situation we are all in. He is thinking about everyone. His first obligation of his job is to keep all students safe and keep the Wall Township families in mind. He also realizes that not all his staff is not from Wall Township and some where hit even harder in other areas beyond losing power. I know it is frustrating to lose power but in comparison some have loss their homes, personal belongings, are misplaced and homeless. With that being said, I think he has done a wonderful job during this emergency that the East Coast has never seen before. I am sure he did not want the children of Wall Township to miss this many days of education, no one did, but mother nature took over and it really was out of everyone's hand. God Bless and I thank God there is a new leader in Wall Township. Something Wall needs, compassion and honesty for a change.
