Eagle Scout Ceremony To Be Held Sunday

Zachary Lucas to receive scouting's highest rank

Zachary Lucas, a 16-year-old who grew up in Wall, is scheduled to receive his Eagle Scout award in a Court of Honor ceremony on Sunday at .

Lucas completed the Marconi/ Watson Nature/Hiking Trail for InfoAge Science and History Learning Center, located at the site of the former Camp Evans to earn scouting’s highest award.

Lucas designed and supervised the trail-blazing process, as well as landscaped, and constructed designated entrances and exits. He contacted local garden centers, suppliers of mulch and wood, and employed the volunteer services of fellow scouts and scouters from the area, cadets from NJROTC of Wall High School, family and friends, according to a release.

The project took about a year to complete and faced obstacles of improper use from local ATV riders. Lucas sought and received support for completion through the Township of Wall and the Wall Township Police Department, the release says.

Lucas plans to attend a service academy like the U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Naval Academy or a senior military college. He plans to pursue a service career and study criminal justice with career aspirations of the rank of officer and federal marshal, the release says.
