Gas Lines Stretching Into Parkway

Long lines for one of the only gas stations around still open

Gas, groceries and other necessities are in short supply these days, with businesses throughout the area without power and the few that are open have queues hours long.

The station at the Garden State Parkway reststop in Wall is one of the few open. Wednesday morning, the line to fill up stretched a mile into the Parkway northbound lanes.

Two hours, Dave Kumpkin, of Jackson, said he had waited to fill up his work van.

In that time, he had just barely moved off the Parkway lane and into the rest area. He was still a long way from a pump.

"I'm on 'E' now,'' Kumpkin said. "I don't know if I'm going to make it.''

The only other nearby gas station with power Wednesday morning was in Neptune Township, on Old Corlies Ave and Route 33. Lines there were equally as long.

Finding a grocery store is also difficult. Wall has precious few open. Although downtown Farmingdale had several businesses open, including Bruno's Pizzaria and the Shop N Bag grocery store.

Campbell's Pharmacy, on Sea Girt Ave., also is one of the few businesses open Wednesday.

If you own a business that is open, or if you know of one that is open, please post in the comments. People need to know that.
