Summer Fun Continues In Monmouth All Month Long

Fewer parking hassles but all the fun of summer continues through the end of the month.

Just because the Labor Day holiday is passed does not at all mean summer fun is over.

The farm markets, outdoor entertainment, festivals and warm weather continue throughout September when you still enjoy summer fun and find parking a-plenty. 

The Jazz It Up Wine and Food Festival takes place on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, from noon to 5 p.m. at Historic Allaire Village in Wall Township.

If horse racing is more appealing, Monmouth Park is hosting its Barbecue and Craft Beer Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

September 6, 7 and 8 is Asbury Park’s Oysterfest. Quickly becoming one of the most popular events of the September, the festival turns historic Cookman Avenue into one long pedestrian mall. Enjoy food, shopping and live music on Sept. 6 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sept. 7 and Sept. 8 from noon to 10 p.m.

Appetite: A Gastronomic Experience at Count Basie Theatre takes place from Sept. 5 to Sept. 8, a new addition this year. There will be celebrity chefs, food trucks and plenty of tastings. Contact Count Basie Theatre for ticket and event information.

The Feast of San Gennaro at the Jersey Shore will take place on Sept. 7 and 8 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Main Street in Belmar. Italian food and spirits, games, activities, live music and more.

Other events that weekend are the Ocean Grove Giant Fall Flea Market on Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Ocean Pathway, the Belmar Pro Surfing Competition, which runs from Sept. 7 through 15, and the Red Bank Street Fair on Sept. 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

If you prefer crafts, Historic Allaire Village will hold its Annual Crafters’ Market on Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the same day Manasquan Fall Arts & Crafts Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Squan Plaza.

On Sept. 21, the Ocean Grove British Car Show takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Avenue and the Asbury Park Classic Car Show will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on West Lake Avenue.

Also on Sept. 21, the Open Space Pace fall festival will bring a unique, exciting day of fun to downtown Freehold and Freehold Raceway. The affair starts with a parade of horses down Main Street in Freehold at 10:30 a.m. and continues to Freehold Raceway. There will be races, demonstrations, food, exhibits, family activities and music. The event will be capped an outdoor concert and a fireworks display.

Red Bank’s famous Oyster Festival at the White Street Parking Lot is scheduled for Sept. 22. The food and music festival runs from noon to 7 p.m. with a rain date of Sept. 29.  

The last weekend in September holds just as much fun as the first weekend: Sept. 28, from noon to 4 p.m. is Micro-Brew on the Pier at Belmar Marina; the 1830s Fall Harvest Festival will take place from10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Historic Allaire Village; Sept. 29 is the Harvest Home Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel.
