Unfinished Boardwalk, But No Unfinished Business In Ocean Grove On Memorial Day

Unfinished boardwalk - no problem!

Tourists took time to enjoy the first beach weekend of the year this Memorial Day weekend at the one place that hasn't been able to entirely replenish its attractions since Hurricane Sandy struck.

I will keep Ocean Grove in my prayers as they continue to restore their private enclave. All the land in Ocean Grove is owned by the Camp Meeting Association church group. They are quick enough to claim it when they limit the use of their facilities to others who do not belong to their denomination. May I respectfully suggest their Camp Meeting Association needs to take care of their own and pass the hat at their church services for the repairs to their PRIVATE OWNED BOARDWALK. After all; St Rose's diocese, school alumni, and caring parishioners paid for the extensive repairs at THEIR church and schools. Their students were going to school in trailers rented by the church while work went on to repair music, art, and science corridors. They also lost their school administration rooms, the school's little theatre, gym locker rooms, and cafeteria. For example; The Cafeteria that serves both St Rose High School plus the Grammar School just reopened in November. They had to replace every piece of equipment, including a roomful of brand new tables & chairs that were destroyed when the storm surge filled the below street level rooms to the ceilings!
