Wall High School Senior sings "Desperado''

Senior Cari Fletcher for a second time appeared on Simon Cowell's new television show X Factor Wednesday.

The 17-year-old singer performed the 1970s Eagles hit "Desperado,'' with a group of other solo singers in the second round of performances on her way to the $5 million recording contract awarded to the top finalist.

The judges heard from all contestants who had made it past the televised first-round auditions, previously shown. and received the blessing of all four judges, although Cowell's consent was reluctant.

"I love this,'' Fletcher said in part of a pre-performance on-screen interview. "I've always wanted this.''

For the first time on the show, Fletcher's home town was shown below her name and she proudly told the cameras she was from Wall Township.

The portion of "Desperado'' Fletcher sang was short, but did allow her to showcase her voice.

The results of Wednesday's competition are expected when the show airs Thursday night on the Fox network.
