Wall High Singer Cari Fletcher's Second Live TV Performance

Viewing party held at high school as Fletcher sings for millions again

Some sitting in the auditorium Wednesday night are wearing black T-shirts in support of a hometown singer competing on a national stage before a live audience of millions.

They're young children, teens and adults. And they're all here to support Wall High School singer Cari Fletcher, who is just minutes away from performing on Simon Cowell's X Factor singing competition.

When Fletcher, a 17-year-old senior, appears with her group, , the audience erupts with applause.

Then, absolute silence. The group sings Fleetwood Mac's melancholy tune "Landslide." Then, wild applause once again.

"I thought they did wonderful,'' said Joann Fletcher, Cari Fletcher's aunt, who attended the viewing held at the high school with numerous other members of the Fletcher family. "I think for a group that hasn't been together for too long they really gelled.''

The show's judges gave Lakoda Rayne a mixed bag of compliment and criticism.

Simon Cowell had vitriol for the group's fashion, but said their vocal performance was the best yet.

Judge L.A. Reid praised the group for their singing, but said he was unsure whether they were solidly a pop group or a country group.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger had the highest praise for the group.

"You sound like one voice tonight,'' Scherzinger said. "It was effortless. You just put me in a trance tonght."

Paula Abdul, the group's mentor, defended the group's dress against Cowell's taunting.

"I'm proud of you,'' Abdul said.

But the judges' response matters little. The show has been turned over to the audience, which now may vote for the acts they liked the best.

Also, in a first for network television, fans will be able to vote in their favorite acts using Twitter. Immediately following the live performance, fans will be able to register their votes by visiting the show's Twitter page and following @TheXFactorUSA.com. Viewers can then vote via private Direct Message, the network said Tuesday.

"We're all very very proud of her,'' said Sue Sablom-Klinger, a member of Fletcher's family who attended the viewing party Wednesday.

"She's just got the whole package,'' said Christina Cangelosi, a friend of the Fletcher family. "She has everything. She's got the voice, the looks, everything.''

The results of voting will be revealed on the show Thursday and those acts that have recieved the most votes will move on to the next round of competition.
