One blogger who was treated poorly in middle school encourages parents to ask their kids how they are going to be a better person this school year.

That's probably not the first question parents think to ask when their kids are going back to school, but it may be the most important when you taken into account how emotional abuse can leave wounds that still sting years later.

Ana Homayoun, now an author, educator and life coach, thought she had survived junior high relatively "unscathed," until, years later, she ran into a former classmate who had emotionally hurt her during her challenging junior high years.
