No Gas: Station Closed At Parkway's Monmouth Service Area In Wall

Station will be closed until mid-May, officials said Monday

If you’re used to filling up your tank at the Monmouth service area of the Garden State Parkway, you’re going to have to alter your plans for the next couple of months, officials said.

Sunoco, which operates gas stations on the parkway, has shut down the facility just north of Exit 98 in Wall while it upgrades the facility, officials said.

The work is similar to that done at the Cheesequake, Atlantic City and Forked River service areas, said Tom Feeney, New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman.

The work at the Monmouth service area is expected to be complete by mid-May, Feeney said.

Only the fuel service will be affected. The rest of the service area will operate as normal, Feeny said.

During that time, the nearest open gas station on the parkway will be 24 miles in either direction – at the Cheesequake or the South Toms River service stations.
