Plans Move Forward To Resurrect the Peach Tree Restaurant

Noted area restauranteur Richard Bahadurian looking to bring back 'destination restaurant'

Ambitious plans to construct six new buildings on Route 35 near Lakewood Road inched forward as the Planning Board on Monday heard that the site plans have been scaled back and are being re-drawn.

The new plans for the 19.55-acre site near the South Wall First Aid Squad building that currently houses the Valley Park office and restaurant complex have not been finalized. Another hearing was set for May 6.

Originally calling for six buildings, the new plans call for just three. Parking requirements have been reduced and the restaurant will be the focus of the new plans, representatives said.

Noted area restaurateur Richard Bahadurian, the applicant, said that his plans to add to the former PeachTree restaurant are to create a tropical themed, moderately priced restaurant featuring outside seating, waterfalls, and heaps of tropical plants and foliage, he said.

Bahadurian said the Peach Tree would be a “destination restaurant.’’

“This is a project that I’m just in love with,’’ Bahadurian said. “It’s going to take a lot of time and a lot of money, but I think it’ll be a lot of fun.”
