Shopping Center Opening To Benefit Michael's Feat

Sea Girt Square to open at 10 a.m. Saturday with day-long celebration and donating a portion of the proceeds to the local charity

The grand opening of the Sea Girt Square shopping center on Saturday will benefit a local charity focusd on seriously ill newborns.

The former Old Mill Plaza, at Ocean Road and Route 35, has been refurbished and is populated by numerous new businesses. The site is also the former location of the Wall Township library.

The grand opening celebration is set to begin at 10 a.m., with a ribbon cutting with local dignitaries at 11 a.m. The opening will feature face painting, a balloonist, a bounce house, live entertainment and prize raffles, according to a release.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the charitable organization .

Run by Wall residents Adam and Dana Puharic, Michael’s Feat provides direct financial assistance to struggling families of seriously ill newborns, has purchased specialized medical equipment for local hospitals, and raised awareness to their cause since the organziation was founded following the death of the couple's own newborn in 2000.

Michael’s Feat assists families directly by providing them with gas cards, food vouchers, specialized formula and in-home nursing.

The organization also has purchased equipment for the neonatal intensive-care units (NICU) at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.
