Wall Chamber Of Commerce Calls It Quits

Chamber to merge with larger Southern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce

The Wall chamber is disbanding and being absorbed by the Southern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, according to a letter sent to chamber members from James Goddard, chamber president.

Goddard says in the letter that the two chambers of commerce shared a common mission and that the Board of Directors of the smaller Wall Chamber decided to merge with the far larger Southern Monmouth Chamber.

The Wall Chamber counts about 75 members among its ranks, according to its website. The Southern Monmouth Chamber, which is headquartered on Belmar Boulevard in Wall, draws businesses from 13 area towns, including Wall. Its membership is in the hundreds.

“The simple fact is that together we can provide a better service than divided,” Goddard says in the letter.

The Wall Chamber each year raises money for a scholarship fund awarded annually to a Wall High School senior. The Southern Monmouth Chamber has agreed to continue that tradition, according to the letter.

Members of the Wall Chamber who are in good standing, the letter says, will be allowed to continue in the Southern Monmouth Chamber without paying additional dues for the remainder of the year, according to the letter.

Members who decline to join the Southern Monmouth Chamber will be refunded the balance of their fees, Goddard says in the letter.

“It has been my great privilege to be your president these past few years and I look forward to seeing you at future events as a member of the Southern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce,” Goddard says in the letter.
