Ghoulish Good Time: Regional Halloween Haunts

A list of the scary hayrides and trails throughout central New Jersey.

Halloween is here and it is time to get spooked! If you're looking for a good scare, check out some of these great local haunted attractions!

Field of Terror

Where: 831 Windsor-Perrineville Road East Windsor

When: Open Fridays and Saturdays from 7 − 11 p.m. and Thursdays and Sundays from 7 p.m - 10 p.m. until Oct. 28

What: K&S Farm  features a Field of Terror that includes a Killer Kornfield, Haunted Hayride, an Unknown Barn, and Dementia 3D. Fireworks will take place on Sundays at 8:30 p.m. Enjoy one attraction for $15, two for $25, three for $34, and all four for $38.

Corner of Chaos

Where: Corner-Copia Garden Center 299 Princeton-Hightstown Road, East Windsor

When: Open Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. and Sundays from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. through Nov. 3

What: Corner of Chaos: Scream Acres - Where all your “screams” come true! Corner of Chaos features four scary attractions: Wicked Wagon ride, Wooded Wasteland, Barbaric Barnyard, and the Nightmare Machine. It is $13 per attraction or $40 for all four attractions.

C. Casola Farms Haunted Barn

Where: 131 Route 79 South, Marlboro

When: Open Fridays and Saturdays from 7 − 11 p.m. and Thursdays and Sundays from 7 p.m - 10 p.m. until Oct. 28

What: C. Casola offers 4 terrifying attractions: the Haunted Wooded Trail, the Hayride Terror,  the 3D Haunted Barn, and the Living Maze. Hot apple cider, hot chocolate, baked pies, cookies, popcorn, hot dogs, and other concessions are available. The Haunted Hayride costs $15, and all other attractions cost $12, or enjoy all four attractions for $40. 

Haunted Halloween Express

Where: Allaire State Park, Farmingdale

When: Event runs Oct. 19, 20, 26, 27, 28 from 6 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

What: Take a ride through the haunted woods of Allaire State Park on the Haunted Halloween Express where zombies, ghosts, werewolves, vampires are hiding and waiting for you! Advanced ticket purchase is recommended due to the popularity of the event. Hayrides will leave every 15 minutes and cost $15. Tickets may be purchased by phone by calling the Village Office at (732) 919-3500.

The Dark Carnival

Where: Freehold Racetrack, 130 Park Avenue, Freehold

When: Open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7 p.m to 10:30 p.m. through Oct. 28

What: This circus-themed haunted attraction is sure scare even the bravest! Walk through an over 1,000 ft. maze within a 7,000 ft. octagonal arena. Within the maze you will encounter about 25-30 live performers. Due to the popularity of the attraction it may become very crowded, so reservations are accepted. For reservations, please call 732-599-5147. Admission for adults is $12 and children 12 and under cost $8. 

Zone of Terror

Where: 4860 Route 9 South, Howell

When: Open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. through Nov. 4

What: Walk through a maze inhabited by scary live actors dressed as ghouls and grims! Admission is $10 per person.

Dracula’s Domain Haunted Hayride and Walk Through

Where: 569 Monmouth Road, Jackson

When: Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. through Oct. 28

What: Enjoy the Haunted Hayride or walk through the Psycho Path at Dracula’s Domain. The hayride has been updated with new horror scenes and lasts about 45 minutes. The Psycho Path is filled with live actors, special effects, and monsters - it lasts about 15 minutes. The Hayride costs $15 and the walk through costs $7.

Freehold "Spooktacular" Haunted Hayride

Where: Lake Topanemus Park, located at Pond Road and Lake Topanemus Road in Freehold Borough

When: Saturday, Oct. 20 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

What: The Spooktacular Haunted Hayride has been revamped this year and the route has shifted from the streets to the park - as it offers a better atmosphere for spooky haunting! Shuttle buses will be traveling to the park from the Monmouth County Courthouse where parking is available. The hayride is free.

Terror on Tindall

Where: Tindall Park - located across the street from Middletown High School North on Tindall Road.

When: Oc. 20 from 4 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

What: The senior council at Middletown High School North has put together a haunted trail through Tindall Park woods for the past six years. This year’s theme is “Terror on Tindall” which will have one storyline throughout the entire spooky trail. There will also be a “Happy Trail” for the younger children where games and age-appropriate Halloween stories will be told. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Jersey Shore Spooktacular

Where: Camp Sacajawea and the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore’s Program Activity Center located at 127 Yellow Brook Road, Farmingdale

When: Event will take place from Oct. 20 from noon to 3 p.m.

What: Spooktacular includes a scary haunted hayride as well as a ghost walk, storytelling, scary skits, and other fun fall activities. Admission is $8.50 per person; children under 3 are free.
