JCP&L to Begin Work Clearing Power Lines This Month

Residents across the area can expect to see employees from JCP&L working to clear vegetation growing near power lines throughout the next month.

The work is being done as "a part of JCP&L's program to improve service reliability throughout its 13 county service area," the company said. "Trees are a leading cause of power outages, and when trees and power lines touch it can create a dangerous condition. To help maintain safe and reliable electric service, JCP&L regularly trims trees and conducts vegetation management work along its electric distribution lines on a four year cycle."

Much of the work is done to clear branches and leaves from the lines but "in some cases trees that present a danger or are diseased may also be removed."

A press release from the company said they have hired Aspen Tree, Asplundh Tree Experts and Nelson Tree Service to handle the work. Road closures are not expected but there may be workers directing traffic depending on the road. 

JCP&L said they will be working in Allenhurst, Atlantic Highlands, Colts Neck, Deal, Freehold, Holmdel, Howell,  Marlboro, Middletown, Red Bank, Tinton Falls and Wall.
