Storm Spares Wall, Mainly, Others Not So Lucky

Few power outages in town, other areas hard hit by passing storm

Wall Township has fared well mid-way through a passing storm that has knocked out power to thousands throughout Monmouth County.

Fewer than five homes are without power in town as of shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the Jersey Central Power & Light outage map.

Neighboring Howell had more close to 2,400 residences without electricity, with Freehold topping 1,000. Equally hard hit was Tinton Falls with 1,600 residences powerless. Neptune Township had close to 1,000 in the dark.

JCP&L employees are out assessing storm, according to company spokesman Ron Morano.

"Crews are working now and will be working throughout the night," Morano said.
