Point Beach Workers Save 3 Trapped in Inlet Rocks 

Point Beach- Point Beach police, fire and first aid responders worked in the cold, rising tide of the Manasquan Inlet waters Thursday night to save a woman and a boy who had tried to save her himself.

New Case of West Nile Virus Confirmed in Ocean County

Ocean County- An eighth Ocean County resident has contracted West Nile virus, according to the county health department.

Public Health Coordinator Daniel Regeneye said the department received notification of the case this week. The resident, from the southern part of Ocean County, had underlying health conditions. The resident has since recovered, Regeneye said.

FMERA OKs Lease of Former Fort Property for County DPW Site

Little Silver- Even as some residents remain angry, county and local officials are holding up a recent negotiation over a former Fort Monmouth property as an example of collaboration verses parochialism.

On Wednesday the board of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority approved a resolution to lease the former Fort Monmouth motor pool as the new home of the county's department of public works.

About a dozen Eatontown residents came to voice their anger over what they see as a quality of life issue in their backyards.

Monmouth County — Take a walk along the beaches in Sandy Hook, Island Beach State Park, or Long Beach Island, or stop at the marinas or any of the fishing tackle shops around the Jersey Shore, and if you mention the name “John Geiser,” most fishing folks know his name.

Man Shot Outside High Velocity Had Blood Alcohol Level Above Legal Limit

Berkeley- The man shot and killed by a Beachwood police officer in July near the High Velocity Bar and Grill had blood alcohol above the legal limit, Ocean County Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michel A. Paulhus said.

The autopsy on 52-year-old Mark Tanouye was performed in July, he said, but today Paulhus released details about the blood alcohol levels of the man shot by Beachwood Police outside the Route 9 bar.

Located on a corridor without any other retail and virtually little promise of the walk-in customer, the Shrewsbury comic book store could be considered a hidden gem. That designation suits them just fine.

Barnegat — Southern Ocean residents looking to stock up for their holiday feasts will have to find another store besides Genuardi's on West Bay Avenue in Barnegat, because as of Dec. 16, this location will be closed.
