My Journey with Big Blue

Day 2 and early 3

Wow! What a birthday weekend.

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a fun one spending most of the day in the Super Bowl Village in Indianapolis. Friday was largely uneventful in Chicago as we spent some time at a Chicago alehouse talking with some friendly Chicagoans and sampling some brews.

We spent the remainder of the evening resting up for the rest of the big weekend. Saturday began with brunch at Chicago's famous steakhouse, Gibsons. It was worth the trip.

Our steaks were fantastic. We then hopped in our rental (a fire-red Dodge Charger, which is an awesome car) for the trip to our hotel in Lafayette, Indiana, about an hour north of Indianapolis.

We arrived at what we thought was 2 p.m. (until we realized there was an hour time difference between here and Chicago and it was really 3 p.m.). We were scheduled to board a shuttle bus to the Village at 4 p.m., so there was no rest.

We spent some time in the Village, picked up our Super Bowl tickets and made our way to a cajun themed restaurant where we watched the Indiana U vs. Purdue game (evidently that game is a big deal here).

We did meet some great midwesterners and had a great time and, again, had some brews. We are up early for a 10 a.m. shuttle to the game. More to come.
