Coastal Habitat For Humanity Looking For Volunteers

Coastal Habitat For Humanity, the nonprofit organization dedicated to building, and re-building, homes for those who cannot afford to, is looking for construction volunteers, officials said.

The winter season has brought a great need for construction volunteers, the organizaton said Wednesday.

Anyone interested in helping to rebuild homes damaged or destroyed by Superstorm Sandy in the lower Monmouth County area are welcome to come to the organization's Asbury Park site nay Tuesday through Saturday.

The Coastal Habitat For Humanity warehouse is located at 910 Fourth Ave., Asbury park. Registration and sign in begins at 8:30 a.m. 

No previous building experience is necessary. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to be on a construction site, however.

Transportation to job sites and meals are not provided, so pack a lunch, snack and water bottles.  

Volunteers should wear steel toed shoes or a type of sturdy work shoe and comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Some suggested items to bring: gloves, a hammer, nail belt, tape measure and personal items.
