Knock, Knock; Go Away!

Think of it as a hotel-esq “Do Not Disturb’’ sign that you hang on the front door of your house, only with the force of law and threat of a fine if it’s ignored.

The Township of Wall has amended its Peddling and Soliciting Ordinance to include a new “No Knock List” for residents who want to keep door-to-door solicitors away. It works the same way the national No Call List works to keep the telemarketers from ringing your phone at night.

Residents may register their addresses with the Wall Township Police Department’s No Knock List and pick up an identifying sticker to affix to their front doors or a window near the front door, showing that the house is listed on the No Knock List. There is no cost to be included on the list. Once added, residents do not leave the list unless they request to, according to a Police Department release.
