NY Jets Help Rebuild St. Rose Convent

Members of the New York Jets football team Tuesday pitched in to rebuild a portion of the St. Rose convent destroyed by Superstorm Sandy on the one year anniversary of the storm.

St. Rose High School and the convent on the 7th Avenue campus were badly damaged by last year's storm, with nine feet of water in some parts of the school. Close to 800 pounds of fish and five sea turtles temporarily called the school home after the storm. 

While much of the school damage has been repaired, the convent's basement has been unfinished since the storm.

A phalanx of volunteers from Jersey Cares, a non-profit charitable organization, arrived at the convent Tuesday morning to replace damaged drywall and make other repairs. 

Jets players Nick Bellore, Michael Campbell, Ellis Lankster, Chris Pantale,Bilal Powell, and Ryan Quigley joined Jersey Cares for a few hours Tuesday during the event that organizers were calling "Sheetrock and Roll.''
