Exercise with a Partner for Health and Fun!

Exercising with a workout partner may lead to a healther life.

Getting in shape with a friend is fun and makes it easier to achieve your goals. So how about exercising with your significant other? In addition to "hosting" Valentine's Day, February is American Heart Month so in honor of those two things, give it a try.

Exercising together allows you to be accountable to each other as you embark on your fitness goals. You’ll help each other make sensible food choices and you will learn how much your sweetheart enjoys your company when given the opportunity.

Try some of these ways to exercise with your honey:

Dance the Night Away - go dancing with your partner - learn the Salsa, West Coast Swing or Tango. You’ll burn calories and be a hit at parties! You may want also want to try Jazzercise, a dance-based group fitness program. Or, try one of the many dance-based video games that are widely available today.

Walkin’ the Talk – People of all fitness levels can take walks together. Our weather here at the Jersey Shore, has for the most part, been pretty pleasant, so I suggest you take a stroll outdoors – or a brisk walk if you’re able. If it’s raining or snowing (perish the thought), visit an indoor mall and walk from one end to another, then back again. If you’d rather stay home, try marching in place while talking to each other. You’ll get your heart rate up in no time.

Two Wheelin’ – When the roads are clear, ride bicycles together. It’s a wonderful way to see your neighborhood and take in your surroundings. If you’re adventurous, try a bicycle-built-for-two, but be sure to share pedaling duties.

Couple Up – Invite another couple or two to join you and your beloved for exercise based activities.  There are many fun, different workouts available
on the various gaming systems that are great for groups of people; you could
try dancing, bowling, tennis and more!

Clean It Up – There’s always something to be done around your home, and when you partner up, the task is completed quickly and more enjoyable. You both may work up a sweat, and your house will be spic and span.

Sharing your fitness regimen and goals with your loved one promotes togetherness and may lead to a healthier life.
