Center For Sleep Medicine At Bayshore Community Hospital Earns Program Accreditation From American Academy Of Sleep Medicine

Bayshore Community Hospital is proud to announce the Center for Sleep Medicine has earned program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

Accreditation comes following a full-day survey and inspection of the Center by the AASM, as well as review of the Center’s goals to include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community.

To receive accreditation for a five-year period, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM.  These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility, and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care, and quality assurance.

The AASM is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers, and other health care providers in the field of sleep medicine, dedicated to setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine health care, education, and research.

The Center for Sleep Medicine opened in its new location just down the street from the Hospital in February of 2013 to provide enhanced sleep medicine services in a larger, homelike environment that better meets the needs of adults and children.  The Center is led by board certified sleep medicine physicians and staffed by a team of trained sleep technologists – who employ a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.  In addition, a dedicated nurse navigator is available to assist patients through the sleep process from diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, and education.
