MONOC Presents
Research Poster at New Jersey State Stroke Conference



Wall, NJ – April
8, 2014
--- On March 3, 2014, MONOC proudly presented original research at
the New Jersey State Stroke Conference in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  The research poster title was “Confounding
primary impressions among patients who experience CVA/Stroke in the
pre-hospital environment” The goal of the research study was to determine which
patient presentations commonly mislead paramedics in the identification of Stroke
in the pre-hospital environment.



The conference was sponsored by the American Heart Association and the
New Jersey Department of Health with the objective of educating healthcare
professionals on current research findings and clinical standards of stroke management
and treatment. It also allowed for the opportunity for general discussion and
collaboration regarding state stroke care initiatives, the latest options for
anticoagulation treatment, acute stroke treatment, endovascular therapies, transitions
in care and building stronger stroke systems of care with EMS as a critical
link in providing the stroke patient best treatment options.

In attendance were Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians
Assistants, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists,
Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Administrators, Stroke Program
Directors, Community Health Education Specialists, Pharmacists and other health
professionals throughout New Jersey.



Vince Robbins, MONOC’s President and Chief Executive Officer,
said “With medicine today being driven by evidence based practice, research is
a top priority.  For years, MONOC has
dedicated resources to study pre-hospital medicine in order to establish best
practices for our industry.”

services, the largest EMS education department in New Jersey and a regional
communications dispatch center which handled over 156,000 requests for service
in 2013.
