Today in New Jersey history:

May 15, 1957: New Jersey Governor Robert B. Meyner and Pennsylvania Auditor General Charles C. Smith dedicated the Walt Whitman Bridge, connecting Gloucester City, New Jersey with Philadelphia.  It was opened to traffic the following day.
