Mary “Sissy” Gepp McArdle, age 73, passed away on August 18, 2013 at home. Mary was a lifelong resident of Belmar. She graduated from St. Rose High School in 1957 and Georgian Court College in 1964. She was a teacher at St. Rose Grammar School for 32 years and was Vice Principal for 8 years. Mary was also a lifelong parishioner of St. Rose parish.
She loved the sea and took many boat trips and traveled with her husband, family, and friends. She also loved reading various types of books. Her family was the greatest love in her life and gave her so much pleasure and happy memories.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Theresa Gepp; her husband, Henry McArdle; and her nephew, Stephen Gepp, Jr. She is survived by her beloved brother, Stephen J. Gepp and his wife Judy, Brielle; and beloved brother, Vincent H. Gepp, Jr., Belmar, with whom she lived. Sissy was the best sister that Stephen and Vincent could have ever asked for, and although her death leaves a big whole in their hearts, the wonderful memories of their sister will bring them smiles for eternity. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, and many, many treasured friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 22, from 4 – 8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 23 at 10 AM at St. Rose Church, 603 7th Avenue, Belmar. Burial in the family plot will be private.
