Robert S. Underhill, 58 of Wall, was born June 21, 1955 in Point Pleasant and passed at home on August 17, 2013 after a brave and stoic 2 year battle with cancer. Bob grew up in Brielle, NJ and attended Manasquan High School then went on to receive his Criminal Justice degree from Northeastern University in Boston.

From there he earned his Law Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and went on to practice law for thirty years, spending the last 17 with the firm Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith and Davis in Woodbridge, NJ.

Bob had many interests, all of which he put his heart and soul into. He was an Eagle Scout, avid sailor on the Manasquan River where he was the Commodore of the Manasquan River Yacht Club. He loved soccer whether participating or officiating or coaching his boys.

Anything his sons Bobby, John and Patrick did, he was there to support them wholeheartedly, be it wrestling, soccer or music. His Sunday afternoons were always spent at U.J.’s garage cheering on his beloved Jets with the “boys”. As a member of the Pipes and Drums of the Jersey Shore he performed regularly as the bass drummer and was a proud member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh Club. Music and beer were his passion and he was glad to share his expertise with anyone and everyone!

Whether you knew him as Goob, Dad, Pop, Bob, Uncle Goober or even as a casual friend, no one will ever forget him and he will be sorely missed. He is predeceased by his Father, Henry Melvin Underhill Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Lou Ivins Underhill, his sons Patrick, John, and Robert, his daughter in law Maryanne Underhill who live in Brick with their children Margaret and Charlotte. His mother Matilda Robcke Underhill and mother in law Joan Ivins. His brother and sister in law Henry and Deborah Underhill, his sister Nancy Richardson, his sister and brother in law Sue and Jimmy Hindman, and his many nieces and nephew, cousins and his many friends.

Services will be held on Saturday August 24th from 10am-2pm at Orender Family Home 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers Donations can be made to the Carmie Brady Foundation PO Box 91 Manasquan, NJ 08736, a charity close to the family’s heart. To send condolences to the family or obtain directions to the funeral home please visit www.orenderfamilyhome.com.
