Wall TV Wins Best Drama & Best Overall At N.J.H.S. Film Challenge

On Friday, April 11, 2014, Wall TV’s production students, Mike Smith and Hunter Scire won the highly coveted awards of Best Drama and Best Overall Film, at this year’s New Jersey High School Film Challenge, for their film, titled “The Box”. Students Alex Brunt, Silvia Basilone, and Julia Duncan’s production, also named “The Box”, finished in the top 26, out of more than 80 submitted films.  The competition took place during the week of March 31, 2014, when students were given one week to produce and upload a film that was three-minutes or less.  Other production criteria included, titling the film “The Box”, using a watch as a prop, and including a film character, with the name “Sam Dixon”, in the finished product.

The awards ceremony took place at Jackson Liberty High School, on Friday, April 11, 2014.  After two hours of film workshops, the top films were presented to the audience and the awards were distributed to the winners. This was the first year that Wall TV participated in the challenge.

The NJHS Film Challenge is a five-day high school film competition and an exciting opportunity for high school students from around the State of New Jersey to compete in an upper-level film production challenge and attend workshops presented by veterans in the film industry. The film challenge and workshops are open to all high-school level students and their adult chaperones/teachers.
