Abused Dog Slowly On The Mend

Veterinary hospital worker report slow, steady progress for "Sammy''

Monday Update: The abused dog taken to a Tinton Falls shelter by its abuser continues to make progress, veterinary staff say.

Samurai, brought to the Associated Human Society shelter on Shafto Road in Tinton Falls on Friday by a man who claimed he found the dog near death on the side of Belmar Boulevard in a trash bag, has been making slow and steady progress at the Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, staff say.

"Sammy continues to make slow progress," staff say. "He is tolerating his syringe feedings and antibiotic therapy, and is now able to hold his head up for short periods of time! The doctors and technicians are monitoring him very closely to make sure that he receives pain medication if he shows even the smallest sign of discomfort."
