Allenwood Resident Foils A Burglary, Another Has A Safe Stolen

Two burglaries -- one successful, the other thwarted -- happened Monday night in the Allenwood section of town.

Police are asking for help catching those responsible for one burglary and a second attempted burglary Monday night in the Allenwood section of town.

A safe was stolen from a home on the 2400 block of Alexandra Court around 9 p.m. Monday. The burglar, or burglars, entered through an unlocked second story window, Sgt. Patrick Connor said.

Three hours later, a burglar attempted to enter a home one block away on the 2400 block of Allenwood-Lakewood Road about 11:59 p.m. A burglar or burglars placed a ladder against the house and the noise alerted the resident inside, who saw someone trying to break in through a second-story window, Connor said.
