Atlantic Avenue To Be Shut For Emergency Repairs

Downed utility pole causes closure; police also report three arrests overnight

A portion of Atlantic Avenue will be shut until around 2 p.m. as crews work to repair a downed utility pole after a Highland Lakes woman crashed into it early Saturday morning.

The woman, whom police did not identify, was traveling east on Atlantic Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the pole near White Boulevard, snapping it and leaving electrical wires in the road. No other vehicles were involved. The incident is being investigated by Patrolman Gary Fuller, Clark said.

The woman was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Wall EMS, Clark said. South Wall Fire Department and Jersey Central Power & Light also responded, Clark said.
