Bloomfield Man Arrested on Drunken Driving Charge

Man hit a fire hydrant on Route 34, police say

A Bloomfield man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after hitting a fire hydrant on Route 34 late Tuesday night, police said.

Kevin Zehnder, 52, was stopped around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after his car veered off the road and struck a fire hydrant, Sgt. Steven Wolter said. 

Zehnder also was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana. Patrolman Dough Borst was the arresting officer, Wolter said.
