Blown Transformer, Downed Wire Cut Power to Over 500 In Wall, Spring Lake

JCP&L estimates power to be restored by 11-11:30 p.m.

Over 500 Jersey Central Power and Light customers in Wall Township are without power due to a blown transformer in Spring Lake and a downed wire near Hurleys Pond Road, according to a JCP&L spokesman.

Scattered outages were reported in Spring Lake and Spring Lake Heights as well.

Power was expected to be restored by 11-11:30 p.m., said Stan Prater, JCP&L spokesman.

"A bird flew into it and the transformer blew," said Prater. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m.

Approximately a half hour later a tree reportedly fell on a wire taking down a pole near Hurleys Pond Road, according to Prater.
